Kuwait lies on the northern tip of the Arabian Gulf. It is bordered by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the south and south west, and the Republic of Iraq to the north and north west.
There are nine islands within the territorial boundaries of the State of Kuwait: Failaka, Bobiyan, Maskan, Warba, Ouha, Um Al Maradem, Um Al Naml, Kobbar and Qarooh - the most well-known being Failaka.
Islam is the official religion of the State of Kuwait. However, Christians and many other religious minorities enjoy complete religious freedom in Kuwait.

Hot for most of the year, and generally dry, the hottest months are from April to October with temperatures ranging from between 28 to 50 degrees Celsius. December to February are the coolest months with temperatures from 8 to 18 degrees Celsius.
Kuwait is divided into 6 Governorates:Al-Asimah, Hawalli, Farwaniyah, Ahmadi, Mubarak Al-Kabeer and Jahra.
According to the 2005 census, the population stands at approximately 3 million. This represents an increase of 8.6% compared to the previous year when the population was recorded at 2,750,000.
A report, produced by the Ministry of Planning in 2005, found that there were 992,000 Kuwaiti nationals, a 3.8% increase in comparison to 2004.
